Jason Jones paints mainly landscapes using a formalist execution of "plein air" technique. Jason elects to work directly from nature in an attempt to develop a visual language through which the landscape may be "written down". This formalist technique is highly articulate while also satisfying the traditional demands of colour, form and space. Jason's work implores the viewer to look again at the omnipresent landscape. These works invite us to once again commune with our environment. The works connect with an inner resonance of our great instinctual need to be still, enter and simply observe the landscape before us.
